Service Description

INSTRUCTOR: Ashe Plasma cutting uses a high voltage electrical beam and an air compressor to cut through metals, and a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) system uses a motorized, multi-axis table to direct that beam around its work area. Together, they form a powerful tool that a skilled operator can use to cut pre-programmed designs out of sheet metals like steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and bronze. In this introductory class you'll get a step by step walk through of the design process, the principals and generation of G code, and the use of the system's control software, and you'll get to see the machine in action as you choose from a list of small designs to cut and take something home with you. LEVEL: Beginner PRE-REQUISITES: None OPEN STUDIO QUALIFIER: Yes DURATION: 2 1/2 hours (approx.) CAPACITY: 6 people AGES: 14+

Rules and Policies

SAFETY FIRST!: Safety code strictly enforced for your safety and the safety of others. Dress for success-- - Wear all natural fabrics (cotton, linen, silk, canvas, denim, leather, etc.). Synthetic fabrics can melt to the skin and should be avoided. - Closed toed shoes are required at all times in the shop. Canvas or leather shoes are recommended but not required. - Long hair should be tied back and dangling jewelry/accessories should be removed. - H&F provides all other necessary Personal Protective Equipment (gloves, eye projection, etc.) - If you have safety equipment of your own that you prefer to wear, please feel free to bring it with you. Hardy & Fuller provides water and some snacks for our guests, but you are welcome to bring your own as well. Accessibility: Open to all differently abled persons.
