Service Description

INSTRUCTOR: Akiva Meola In this 8 hour class, students will work to produce their own bushcraft-style full tang knife all in one day! The beginning of the day will start with a forging demonstration, after which students will learn the fundamentals of forging, grinding, drilling, beveling and handle sculpting a full tang knife! This class will be jam packed with information, so be ready to dive in! It comes recommended by the instructor to try your hands at the integral camp knife first to learn the basics and increase your odds of making a great bushcraft knife, however total beginners should not be intimidated to sign up if they're prepared to put in the work! Akiva has been forging for 10 years now, and works primarily as a bladesmith. With a specialty in forged-finish culinary knives, Akiva takes a lot of inspiration from Japanese methodology and tradition, along with his own personal taste for compound curves, forge texture, and sculpted handles. As a full time bladesmith, Akiva forges, grinds, polishes and handles sculpts each knife individually. His knives can be found at purveyors like Element Knife Co, Carbon Knife co, and have been featured on Tasting History with Max Miller. Akiva also has experience in the architectural/decorative blacksmithing world, having worked with Otto Engel of Innovation Forge on large scale forged railings and decorative elements. Outside of work, Akiva loves camping, fencing, history, fantasy books, anything with peanut butter or chocolate, and supporting his roller derby wife!
